Gratitude… Kindergarten!!!

Gratitude… Kindergarten!!!

This says, “Mommy, I love you for who you are. It’s snuggle time.” Can you decipher it?

So, this would be the first thing I’m grateful at the moment.

This was also the first week of Kindergarten! A new world of adventures for her and a whole 6 hours during the day for me. Life begins at kindergarten for me… I have big plans.

And the first two days went great even though she made a huge play for home-school. Her last, best attempt at swaying us to keep her home from school was a list of things we could do on the days she didn’t go. She kept handing these to us before bed… as follows:

It says: Tomorrow. and underneath School is crossed out. The things we would be able to do were: fun, swim, computer, stretch class, snuggle, mom time, dad time, nap time and drawing time. (She was pretty smart putting that nap time in there.)

And for Friday: School crossed out again. Treasure hunt, bury treasure, bury time capsule, stretch class, nap time.

Saturday: Poop, wear diapers poop, be baby and poop, eat poop, (crossed out school) nap, mom snuggle, dad snuggle

Clearly her I.Q drops into the “Poop as high hilarity” levels on the weekends.

And once again, when life gets in the way of blogging, I find my way back with a Gratitude post. I’m so grateful for a school that we love, she loves and where she is safe, happy, inspired and appreciated for who she is.

The first day of school, outside her classroom.

“Let us be grateful to the people who make us happy; they are the charming gardeners who make our souls blossom.”

― Marcel Proust

Oh, I’m excited to hear about these big plans! What exciting times for both of you! The love note is so very sweet, and those lists crack me up. She is quite the negotiator ;)

she really is a negotiator. She’s relentless and her arguments rival the most imaginative (and ridiculous) of the best of David E. Kelley.
      thanks!! xo

  2. How cute is this! She was really angling with all that nap and snuggle time, wasn’t she?

A friend’s daughter was also angling for home school, but by the third day of pre-K she was asking if she could spend the night there. :)

From one Mom to another: enjoy the ride & don’t sweat the small stuff, it all goes by so fast!!

So excited to be able to read so much with your blogs since I’m not able to be there to experience you all in person….soon though, a little!! Glad she is getting into kindergarten. I still keep some wonderful memories from my own so long ago that soon she’ll wonder how she didn’t want to go. Can’t wait to meet her!! Love you!

  8. Ellen says:

This is such a wonderful post. She is one smart cookie. And I love the quote, ‘Life begins at Kindergarten for me.’ For you both.

lol that’s cute- is she left handed? I used to write things backwards and inverted lol. My mom was scared I’d never be able to write, my teacher told her it’s normal for lefties lol.

  11. Munchberry says:

Oh. So cute. I like that she reverts to being a baby on the weekend.

You should keep those and when she gets to be an adult and all stressed, hand them back to her and tell her that the wisdom of kindergarteners cannot be overestimated.

    She is such a smarty.
