Gratitude, July 2, 2012

My lack of Gratitude posts is not from lack of things to be grateful for. For a while there, I did have a bit more GRRRRRRR in my Gratitude than I would have liked, but still… I’m a silver lining girl. It’s always there, even if it’s tattered and hard to find.

1. Well, today happens to be the birth day of my oldest sister. I am extraordinarily grateful for her birth and for her place in my family and my life. She has given me friendship, love, comfort, guidance and been a huge role model for mothering. I thank my lucky stars for Cassy every day.

2. Time spent with my cousin Cathy who’s visiting from Massachusetts. Bonus fun of cousin spouse, Kenny being along for this visit. No one makes me laugh harder and according to my other sisters, no one makes me weirder than my Cathy.

3. Still being able to make my sister (Melanie) fall to the ground and almost pee in her pants laughing.

4. From the “Great Daddy” files… my husband made Em some new mixed “tapes” (CD’s now, of course.) How sweet is that? She loves “daddy’s music” and has spent more time listening to David Bowie, Jethro Tull, and Paul McCartney than the Wiggles. And believe me, we’ve done our time with the Wiggles!

5. My mom…. for more reasons than I can count here.

If you’d like, share something you’re grateful for this week in the comments below. I’d love to hear.

MMM… I love that. I have some people (friends, family, passersby) that I have #2 simpatico with. I suspect you would be one.

Bowie, Tull and McCartney? I had to sit and think about that for a minute or so. Your Em will have a powerful expanse of emotion and expression. That explains things…. no wonder she can rock the ladybug hat so well.

What a great idea. I will have to think of some ideas of my own!

  3. Ellen says:

Ha! That’s exactly what I was thinking: No wonder Em knows how to rock-out! Too funny.
Today I am grateful for my blog and the blogs that are close to my heart. I feel very lucky today to have such an eclectic, interesting group of friends that I feel really ‘get’ me.

Yes, the variety of people with whom we click is so different from anything we would naturally find in our daily lives, isn’t it?
I could never give that part of blogging up.

I’ve been thinking of you the past couple of days and wondering how things are going. It sounds like you have had some wonderful family time – so good for the soul! It’s wonderful to have people you can be you with, however weird that may be ;)

  6. treepeters says:

It really is. I’ve always been a fan of weird. And things are going well…moving along which is the most important. Thank you for thinking of me.

I definitely am grateful for my family :) I’d be lost without them.
