Independence Day 2012

July 4th 2012

Today has been a great day. I am overflowing with contentment.

We had no particular plans for July 4th this year. Hubby had planned to take Em to the movies for her very first Movie theatre movie ever. He found a theatre that was showing kids movies every Wednesday for just one dollar. Perfect, because we didn’t know if she would like it and it wouldn’t be painful to leave early having spent only $3 as opposed to $36 or more. I wasn’ t sure I was going to go, being tempted to stay home and clean the house. Thankfully, I went. I can’t imagine having missed out on this. Yogi Bear was good, but Em’s excitement was overwhelmingly joyful.

She kept looking up between her dad and myself just beaming and laughing to share each joke.

Way to pose! This theatre was quite beautiful.

First concession stand for movie snacks!

We were the last ones in the theatre so, how about a game of chase?

Then after, we walked around the little shopping/restaurant area and found the coolest pond. Luckily we got pictures…

Can you see how many turtles are in there? There must have been a hundred in all. It was like a migration.

The fish were huge and there are tons of turtles there too. Don’t know if they show up well.

The ones on the rocks looked like statues to me.

Turtles… I am definitely getting turtles at the new house. They’re so cool.

Stephen is convinced these guys get fed. They were coming right for us. S…L….O….W….L….Y

There was even a duck!

What great day would be complete without a visit to the cute bakery!

We picked out 6 of these mini-cupcakes.

Waiting for food at Sharkey’s.

Still waiting…

Yum!! I got a grilled salmon taco and it was incredible (and gluten free!)! I’m always happy to find salmon that I like. And if you don’t know Sharkey’s, the fish is all wild caught, the veggies and rice are organic and meat is hormone free. If they can do it, why can’t more places?

We came home and the three of us relaxed. All together but doing as we pleased.

We capped it all off with a swim. Ah, summer. Oh, and then bath for the girl. We’re happy and pooped. Just time left for books and snuggling up for sleep.

After pool and bath.

Happy Fourth Of July!!!!!

What a great day! SO exciting for Em. Good thing you did not let the housework win! It keeps. And keeps. And keeps! She won’t.

    Post bath pic so sweet.

It looks like a wonderful day! I still remember my first movie theater movie. My grandmother took my sister and me to see Swiss Family Robinson. She popped popcorn at home and took it with us in a brown paper bag. :)

What a FUN day!! Love Em’s face with the cupcakes. I make that face too whenever I see them :)
TURTLES!! Wow! I don’t think I’ve ever seen that many in one spot before.
You all look like you had a fantastic day. What a great way to just burn off some steam. Leave the problems home and go out to enjoy a nice holiday. SO glad you didn’t stay home.
